how to make it beautiful
The world is ugly and evil abounds within it. There are forces that govern existence that insist on said ugliness. They are, just as we are. This is the law of balance, the fourth of the seven hermetic principles. How would you know light without dark? Close your eyes. This is the work of our lives.
You will take the ugliness and swallow it, purify it, make it true. Inside of you, you will begin to shape it. Press it and knead it, sew it and mold it. Twist it around itself one thousand times.
A pause to think long and hard. Some stillness to let it flow, to let the worst of it go. This is where the light gets in. Some hope. It is only a moment.
The kneading begins again, rhythmically. Everything happens in patterns. Then it is finished.
Hold it steady inside and cover it with lies but not too many or else you will destroy it. The ugly truth is fragile and delicate at first. It takes endless time to build its strength and resilience, to gather its allies. No, you don’t need too many. Just enough to see it peeking out. Just enough to feel the crest of the wave, the electromagnetic pulses. A silver nucleus. A precious, pretty thing.
There. Set it down there. Everyone will gather around to take a look. Walk away. Now, it is beautiful.
